Testimonials

“I have been taking classes at the dance studio for over twenty years and will continue because, as an adult, with adult physical dilemnas, I find that the teachers are gentle and understanding of each dancer's personal abilities. I welcome that after years in the city with competitive students. And honestly, my fleeting moment fleeted about three decades ago.”

-- Tina Manfredi

“I came to the Dance Studio of Park Slope shortly after I moved to New York, about 7 years ago. I had not danced in awhile (which is very common for those who find their home at the Studio). Though many years ago I had dreams of becoming a professional dancer, I injured myself and slowly gave up dancing. The ballet classes at the Studio were a perfect fit for me: the teachers, Julie and Setsuko, were professional dancers and they run their classes in a very professional - though very friendly - manner. They are extremely supportive, give plenty of advice and corrections, and are deeply, deeply dedicated to us. Our classmates are also fantastic - there is true camaraderie among us. The Studio and the community it has created is an important part of my life! “

-- Bridgitte Amiri

Setsuko knows her stuff! In a light-hearted and engaging manner, she’s able to demonstrate—and, just as important, to communicate—basic movement technique. Don’t expect to hide any bad habits or problem areas from her. She has a remarkable ability to pinpoint them and offer workable corrections to each individual. Even a group class can feel like a private session.

-- Oona Short

"Piano music fills the calm and sunlit studio. I stand at the bar and breathe. I leave the stress & responsibility of work and parenting 3 kids behind. I relax and I focus on technique and on getting the movement and the music working together as one. I am so tremendously grateful to have such beauty in my life -- the treadmill at the gym doesn't even come close."
